Staunton Ranch State Park is Colorado’s latest State Park and opened in 2013 offering 18 miles of hiking tracks and a range of various other leisure tasks. The park sits south of Black Hill in a location of yearn forests, aspen groves, open meadows and granite cliffs. The website was when a 1,720-acre cattle ranch owned by Drs. Archibald and Rachel Staunton that homesteaded the land beginning in the turn of the 20th century. The family ran a cattle ranch and a turn-of-the-century saw mill on the residential property and held summertime camps for children.
Several of my preferred trails are the Marmot Flow and Bugling Elk Trails. These can be combined right into a 3.1-mile loop that ends at gorgeous Elk Falls Fish pond. It’s a terrific mix for those looking to experience a good amount of the park without going overboard on range.
